Whither Waterfront Resized
2019
56.5″ high x 40.5″ wide
Photography by Douglas Sandberg

This quilt offers a dystopian vision of what sea-level rise might do to San Francisco’s iconic downtown. It deconstructs images of real buildings at the water’s edge and reconstructs them … in different places, off-kilter, partially submerged. Embroidery hints at an added threat: seismic upheaval.
