Summer in San Francisco usually means fog, but this year the weather has taken an unusual turn. We’ve had thunder, lightning, and rainfall in the middle of our dry season. Someday I’d love to see a phenomenon called a superbolt. But for now I can pretend … by enlivening black silk with skinny strips and shiny, variegated stitching.
Summer Lightning is my donation to the 2020 SAQA Benefit Auction, an annual online event being held September 11th through October 4th. This year’s auction is the biggest ever for the Studio Art Quilt Associates, a wonderful organization that promotes the art quilt and the artists who create them. You can preview all the auction quilts here. And check this blog post for more details.
