Liberty Deconstructed Resized
2018
27.5″ high x 20″ wide
Photography by Douglas Sandberg

My satiric take on a prototype wall for the US–Mexico border, this quilt features recycled fencing strung between fabric “slats” that are surprisingly green in so arid a landscape … and somehow familiar. That’s because they come from a disgraced icon: the patinated copper from the Statue of Liberty.
