Sorta Sonia honors the aesthetic of the Russian-born French artist and textile designer Sonia Delaunay (1885–1979). Recently the subject of retrospectives in Paris and London, Delaunay is known for her profusion of colors … a “mash-up” of geometric shapes (often juxtaposing freehand or fractured circles with wonky rectangles and squares) … swathes of irregular stripes and rhythmic, wavy lines … and fabric design that mimicked the look of hand embroidery.
